1995 Z28 Camaro - The Sledgehammer
Purchased
in April 2003 as a second vehicle, it has proven to be a lot of fun on the back
roads or the highway. I had been looking for a 6-speed Z28 for a few
months when I found one in Chicago. Unfortunately, that one sold before I
could make the deposit, so I kept looking. A bit farther than Illinois,
was "The Sledgehammer" in Austin, TX. After making my offer, Jeff
(previous owner) decided he wanted a twin turbo Supra. I don't blame him-
once you get the need for speed, it never stops, you always want more. I
made arrangements and hopped a Greyhound to Texas. Two days later, I was
on my way back to Wisconsin. Fuel mileage wasn't the best, but it made up
for it with wide grins and thumbs up from people who appreciated it.
People
usually ask "Why not go with dual exhaust?" The answer is a simple math
problem: you get more flow from one 4" than two 2.5" pipes.

SS springs, new sway bar, strut tower brace and urethane bushings give it a lower stance and increased handling and better turn in.
